Castelnuovo Villa nestles in the hills above the village of Castelnuovo in Northern Tuscany, where it enjoys peace and tranquility and commands spectacular views of mountains and the village below. Set in sixty acres of forest, fields and hills, the Estate consists of various farmhouses and the original major part of this Medici Villa. Once the residence of a noble family, famous for their grand life and style, the villa has been restored to the highest standard, retaining many of its original features.

Accommodation Details From landscaped gardens you enter double aspect doors into a grand baronial hall. Twenty eight columns and arches form a gallery surrounding the ground and first floor, with mellow light filtering through a frosted glass ceiling embraced in wrought iron work. All is enhanced by a beautiful chandelier hanging in the centre.
On the ground floor there is a study-television room with home video and satellite television (some English channels) with double French doors leading to the terrace outside. A pretty dining room leads to a fully equipped kitchen with double French doors to the terrace. There is a small cloakroom and an open staircase leads up to the gallery. There is a laundry room, a double bedroom with the most superb large bathroom, a balcony with wonderful views over the pool and garden and a second double bedroom and shower room. Up some more stairs into a large orangerie with terracotta divided glass floor and glass ceiling. Off the orangerie is a third double bedroom with a grand Roman style shower-room all in Travertine marble. Also from the orangerie two arches lead to the fourth large bedroom and a hallway with huge picture windows and panoramic views over the garden and mountains. A stunning Roman jaccuzi bathroom all in cream Travertine marble. The fourth bedroom has twin beds and ensuite bathroom and has splendid views over garden, fountain, pool and mountains. The Villa has its own supply of fresh spring water. There is wireless broadband connection available.
Outside Facilities Castelnuovo Villa is set in sixty acres of private land, mainly forested hillside. The setting is superb. Faded formal reminders of the rich history of the property remain throughout the grounds – stone arches and fountains, and an eighteenth century grotto. Gracious cypress trees frame the many vistas. There is an excellent fenced swimming pool of 6 x 12 metres and which has an electric pool cover. The pool area is very private and secluded.For al fresco dining there is a Gazebo with table and chairs. The pool has the added benefit of solar heating which will raise the overall temperature by a few degrees.

Services The property is cleaned, and linen changed once a week, but additional cleaning and fresh linen can be arranged more frequently, if required, for a small additional charge. Beach/pool towels are supplied. Cooking and babysitting services can also be requested for an additional charge.The owner can also arrange helicopter sightseeing trips. Central heating for the Winter months is charged and payable locally.
Local Area The villa is situated above a little village called Torrite, only about a five minute walk away and a little further, about ten minute's walk away is the market town of Castelnuovo. Further afield, there are the towns of Forte de Marmi, Massi and Carrara, approached by driving through some spectacular countryside with views over mountains and valleys.
Castelnuovo Garfagnana is the centre of this beautiful area, and all around there are attractive mediaeval villages, the best known being Barga, where an Opera Festival is held every summer. Nearby is the house of the Poet Giovanni Pascoli, and Viarregio is famous for its Carnival, held in February.Other areas worth visiting include: Lucca (forty five minutes drive); Montecatini, famous for its Spa Water and Casinos (an hour’s drive) and Florence about 1½ hour’s drive away. If you relish the best in traditional Italian food, and don’t mind a drive to get it, Portofino is about 2½ hour's drive away. Locally, however, there are many other restaurants in this unspoiled part of Italy.
Boat Trip:
Or, for a perfect day out, travel to Portofino in great style and luxury on a beautiful motor launch. The price is € 1,400 to Portofino or € 1,200 to Porto Venere & Cinque Terre (a shorter distance). Both are day trips and include a light lunch and drinks. This is a great favourite with clients.
For activities, there is a Gym with a sauna in the town. Tennis courts and an indoor pool are also about ten minutes away, and golf facilities about twenty minutes away. There is also a small food shop and supermarket within walking distance, and a local market every Thursday.
Directions Pisa and Florence Airports are both about an hour and twenty minutes drive from Castelnuovo. For excursions, there are very good ferry services form Livorno (an hour and thirty minutes drive) to the islands of Elba, Corsica and Sardinia.

High Season: 740 euros per day, 5 day minimum rental
Mid Season: 590 euros per day, 5 day minimum rental
Low Season: 470 euros per day, 5 day minimum rental
Prices include once weekly cleaning and all linen and towels changed.
Central heating is charged, and payable locally - €uro 40.00 per day.
Extra cleaning may be requested and is payable locally - €uro 8.00 per hour.
Cooking can be arranged at an extra cost, dependant upon clients' requirements and is payable locally.
The Estate has its own supply of fresh Spring water
