Every room is built in the interior of a palapa, the most common way of building in this area, using hard woods and palm tree roofs. At Xaloc, this ecological construction is very well combined with the colorful Mexican style and comfort. In your room, you will sleep under a mosquito net, and you will experience the traditional hammocks on the exterior porches. You can choose a room with king-size bed or a room with two twin beds. Every room has a private en-suite bathroom. Accommodation is based on bed and breakfast, but half Board is also available.

The breakfast includes: coffee or tea, juices, fruits, bread with butter and marmalade, hot-cakes, yogurt, cereals, eggs.
Half board includes breakfast and dinner: Dinner consists of a four course menu: cream or soup, starter, main dish (meat or fish to choose) and dessert. The hotel always places great improtance on the delicious local food.

At the restaurant Majá che, the chef has developed a menu derived from exquisite traditional Mexican and Yucatecan dishes. Holbox is a fishermen village, so seafood is a speciality. This is open from 07.30 hrs until 22.00 hrs every day.

It is a pleasure to watch the arrival of the fishermen with their boats full of fresh fish, ready to come direct from their boats to the restaurant.

The pool bar 'De la Luna' is also open daily between 10.00am to 14.00 pm.

Outside Facilities
At Xaloc you will find all you need to spend an unforgettable holiday. The hotel has secluded and areas where guests can hide away undisturbed: The swimming-pool at the beach front, the reading and games room, the exterior porch where one can enjoy a siesta lying in the traditional Yucatecan hammocks, the small crafts boutique. However, if you do not want to rest too much, Xaloc offers you many excursions and activities.

Breakfast is included in the price.

Children are not permitted in Superior Rooms nor are they able to use the pool for the Superior Rooms.

Local Area
Holbox appears in the heart of Mayan culture, and remains one of the most impressive paradises in the Caribbean. Once a refuge for Pirates, then a shark-hunter's island and nowadays a quiet fishermen´s village, Holbox Island is only just opening itself up to tourism. The island is located in the Area Natural Protegida de Yum-Balam, the perfect place to observe nature in an unspoilt state.

You will be able to practice activities like snorkeling, bird watching, kayaking or simply relaxing. There is little around you apart from jungle and endless white sandy beaches. There is a village on the island, with street of sand and where locals live an uncomplicated and unhurried life. Other activities that can be arranged include:

- Dolphin and whale-watching
- Fishing
- Crocodile searches!
- Visits to historical sites, including Chhichen Itza
- Plane trips over archaeological sites
- Jungle tours
- Horseriding

Fishing is the most popular activity on Holbox, and the experience of fishing around the island will be something unforgettable. Chat to the local fishermen and they will be able to tell you the best places to go, and the techniques to use.

The Whale Shark:
This is one of the most impressive spectacles at Holbox. Whale-sharks are considered to be the biggest species of fish, and there are very few places on the planet to watch them. You will be picked up by a boat in front of the hotel very early in the morning and travel for about 2 hours away from the island, until these enormous animals are found. Not only can you admire them, you may also swim with them: despite their tremendous size they are completely harmless.

Dolphin watching:
They swim around the island the whole year. The best time to watch them is at sunrise, when the fishermen begin their daily work. At that time the water is calm, and there is no movement on the surface.

Turtle spawn:
Every year, between May and September, groups of marine turtles arrive at these beaches to spawn. From hundreds of eggs, only a few turtles will succeed to begin their life cycle.

Directions
By plane:
Holbox Island has a small airport where you can land by private plane, or a rented one. The approximated time from Cancun is 35 minutes and costs $580 per way in a private Cessna which can carry a maximum of four people.

By boat:
The usual way to arrive to the island is by boat from Chiquila. There is a regular-line boat that crosses the twelve kilometres separating Chiquila and Holbox (it takes between fifteen and twenty minutes). Chiquila is two and a half hours driving from Cancun and about four hours from Merida. Organised Transfer from Cancun to Xaloc - $75 per person per way includes: Ground Transportation from Chiquila with A/C vehicle, boat from Chiquila to island, Taxi to hotel - all taxes are included. Minimum two persons.
