CASA PUNTA BANCO

A ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY FOR A REAL BIT OF PARADISE. An extraordinary property in the amazing Central American country of Costa Rica. Absolutely unique jungle and beach property and private 265 acre estate situated in the spectacular environment of a tropical rainforest on the edge of the Pacific ocean.

Costa Rica is spectacular and above all a country of peace. A safe and tranquil environment, this is a fantastic opportunity to stay on an extraordinary private estate in 265 acres of primary rainforest on the edge of endless empty sandy beaches and Pacific ocean. A private jungle home with where nature, privacy, unspoiled beaches and beauty abound. Waterfalls, tide pools, rainforest, ocean all ensure a fantastic location for the adventurous.

Accommodation Details
This is a wonderful, simple open air tropical house 250 feet above the beach with six bedrooms, two bathrooms, well equipped kitchen and a huge living area. Each bedroom is screened-in, and there are four double bedrooms, and two twin bedrooms. Two double bedrooms on the ground level and ocean and a beautiful full bathroom with Jacuzzi bath and shower is a luxurious surprise.

On the first floor there are two master double bedrooms with doors opening onto the spacious verandah and fantastic views across the ocean, two twin bedrooms, and another excellent shower room on the first floor. The house was originally constructed in the 1970’s and is a raised wooden structure with sloping overhung roof to deal with the tropical rains. Beautiful wooden floors throughout and traditional, comfortable country furniture.

The front of the house has views across the magnificent ocean to the Osa Peninsula and other parts look directly into the surrounding jungle giving an atmosphere of close affinity with nature. A fresh water spring provides drinking water, solar and generator powered electricity provide plenty of hot water and fans are available if needed. There is a wonderful House Book written by the owners which provides a great deal of very useful information on Costa Rica, the property and surrounding region. Cell and mobile phones can be used about a mile down the beach from the property.

Outside Facilities
From the beach there is a steep unmade drive leading up to the house and in the gardens around the house there are tropical plants of all kinds and beautiful orchids. The gardens soon become forest and there are wonderful trails through the 265 acres of primary rainforest to orchards above the estate. Only a five minute walk away in the grounds is a fabulous waterfall with ice-cold water plunging 150 feet to a shallow pool – fantastic for envigorating showers!

At low tide there are amazing tide pools where one can swim and study the variety of life that live in the pools. The beach is breathtaking - miles of uninterrupted sand and ocean lined with forest and palms. Wonderful caressing sea breezes and breathtaking panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and Osa Peninsula. The caretaker can arrange horses for clients to ride along the spectacular deserted beach.

Services
Daily housekeeper/cook who will clean, cook and do any laundry as required is available at a charge of $15 per day including your arrival and departure day, which is payable directly to her. There is also a resident caretaker who lives in a cottage near the beach. He will accompany guests on walks through the rainforest, organise the horses for rides on the beach or through the forest and generally be on hand to assist guests. On arrival he will meet guests at the point where cars are parked with a horse and trailer to carry luggage and to escort guests along the beach to the house.

Local Area
The sleepy coastal village of Punta Banco and the famous surfers beach of Pavones have a number of small bars and restaurants serving simple but good food. Fresh fish can be bought from the fishermen at Pavones. There is a grocery store at Pavones that sells just about everything needed for cooking meals and a small handicraft shop. In the village nearest to the house are two very small stores for necessities and in this area meat and other foodstuffs can be ordered from the little local markets.

There are many activities available such as hiking through the tropical rainforest and fruit orchards, swimming in the warm Pacific ocean, body surfing, and surfing at world famous Pavones beach where there are lessons and equipment available, snorkeling and exploring marine life or soaking in the Tide pools, walking along miles of unspoiled beach, exploring streams and waterfalls, watching monkeys playing in the trees, watching turtles nesting in season, surf fishing and riding horses along the deserted beaches.

A paradise for bird watchers, there are parrots, parakeets, a wide variety of hummingbirds, toucans, wrens, hawks, owls, woodpeckers, trogons, vultures, pelicans, swallows and many, many others. The abundant wildlife includes ocelots, manatees, sloths, deer, otter, squirrels, coati mundi (raccoons), opossum, anteaters, armadillos, wild boar, lizards, colourful and poisonous frogs, toads, iguanas and many more. This area is wonderful for anyone who likes living close to nature, who wants to experience living on the edge of both a tropical rainforest and the magnificent Pacific ocean and can therefore enjoy everything these spectacular environments offer.

During the rainy season, the mornings and early afternoons are typically sunny and it can rain late afternoon or at night. The rainy season can start in April or May with Sept - Nov being the months that get the most rain. People that live in Punta Banco prefer the rainy season. It is cooler (still tropical) but just more comfortable. The waterfalls are full, the flowers beautiful and the fauna is green and lush.
